In 2010 each Big Creek community adopted resolutions of support for the Big Creek Watershed Balanced Growth plan: Cleveland, Parma, Parma Heights, Brooklyn and Brook Park. In 2011 the plan received State Endorsement.
Balanced Growth: a voluntary, incentive-based strategy to protect and restore Lake Erie, the Ohio River and Ohio's watersheds to assure long-term economic competitiveness, ecological health, and quality of life. Visit balancedgrowth.ohio.gov to learn more.
The Partnership consists of representatives from each city's administration, city council, planning commission and zoning board as well as representatives from various stakeholder agencies, organizations and interested residents. In addition to Mayor Byrne, Mayor DeGeeter, Mayor Elliott, Mayor Balbier, and Darnell Brown, Chief Operating Officer, and Jenita McGowan, Chief of Sustainability for the City of Cleveland are planning to attend the November 6th Partnership meeting.
