Big Creek runs through Brookside Reservation and Cleveland Metroparks Zoo before it meets the Cuyahoga River. The annual summer Big Creek Clean-up began as a grass-roots, after-work project by a handful of Zoo staff in 1995. The Zoo partners with Friends of Big Creek to help address storm water and other water quality challenges in Big Creek. During the clean-up, collected waste is sorted so that plastic, glass, and metals are recycled and trash is disposed of properly.
The Clean-up is a great community service opportunity and a great way to make your local watershed a better place to live and work.
Hosted by Resource Management Committee (The Zoo’s “Green Team”
